Serengeti National Park
Endless golden plains, thundering wildebeest herds and Africa's most celebrated predators — the Serengeti is the safari every traveller dreams of.
About Serengeti National Park
Stretching across 14,750 square kilometres of northern Tanzania, Serengeti National Park is the beating heart of African safari. Its name comes from the Maasai word siringet, meaning “the place where the land runs on forever” — and standing on its boundless plains, you understand why. This is one of the oldest ecosystems on Earth, its essential features virtually unchanged in over a million years.
The Serengeti is world-famous as the stage for the Great Wildebeest Migration, the planet's largest overland animal movement, where more than 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebra and gazelle move in a perpetual clockwise circuit in search of fresh grazing. But even outside migration season, the park rewards visitors with some of the densest concentrations of big cats anywhere in Africa.
From the southern short-grass plains to the wooded northern Kogatende region and the riverine forests of the Western Corridor, every part of the Serengeti offers a distinct character and a different chapter of the wildlife story.

Seasonal Guide & Weather
June – October (Dry Season)
The best overall time to visit. Sparse vegetation and animals gathering at water sources make wildlife easy to spot. July to October offers the famous Mara River crossings in the north.
December – March (Calving Season)
The southern Serengeti and Ndutu come alive as around 8,000 wildebeest are born each day, attracting intense predator action.
April – May (Green Season)
Lush landscapes and fewer visitors. Some rain, but excellent value and beautiful photography conditions.
