Arusha – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Depart Arusha after breakfast and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area via Karatu. Stop at the crater rim viewpoint for your first breathtaking view of this ancient caldera. Enjoy an afternoon rim walk with your guide, taking in the dramatic escarpment landscape, indigenous forest, and views across the vast crater floor thousands of feet below. Arrive at Karibu Lions Paw Camp for dinner and overnight on the crater rim.

Empakai Crater – Rim Exploration
An early start for the drive to Empakai Crater — a hidden gem within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area that most visitors never see. This pristine secondary volcanic crater contains a deep, flamingo-populated soda lake surrounded by dense montane forest. Hike down into the crater and around the lake shore. In the afternoon, return to Lions Paw Camp for a sundowner with unrivalled views across the main Ngorongoro Crater.

Ngorongoro Crater Floor – Arusha
The highlight of the trip — descend 600m into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive. Home to approximately 30,000 animals including all Big Five, the crater offers the best wildlife density anywhere in Africa. Spot lions, elephants, hippos, flamingos, hundreds of bird species, and if lucky, the endangered black rhino. Picnic lunch at the hippo pool, then ascend and return to Arusha.
